Scarcity of constructible flat lands is major concern for constructions in the Indian Himalayan region due to sloping terrain. Consequences of combined high seismicity and inherent vulnerability of buildings caused by structural irregularities owing to sloping terrain has proven to be disastrous as evident from past earthquakes. Proposed study aims to identify explicit causes and parameters responsible for undesired performance of unreinforced-masonry infilled RC buildings with prevalent structural and non-structural irregularities resulting from sloping terrain and functional openings in hilly regions. An open access tool “SeisVARA_Hill” shall be developed in which realistic fragility and loss estimation functions shall be incorporated.
