Fiscal Impacts of Climate Risks to Infrastructure: A Cross-Country Analysis

Climate change leads to changes in the frequency and intensity of climate-related hazards, which can damage critical infrastructure and in turn undermine economic development and fiscal stability. Governments are central in responding to these consequences; however, research on the fiscal implications of climate risks to critical infrastructure remains relatively limited.

The proposed research will quantify the fiscal implications of climate risks to critical infrastructure from a bottom-up perspective. This includes producing a cross-country analysis to understand the fiscal impacts of climate shocks to infrastructure in various contexts and identify trends and relationships that are most influential in enhancing fiscal resilience.
