Dr Mona Chhabra Anand

Dr. Mona Anand is currently Director- Research & Knowledge Management at CDRI. Trained as an Architect and development planner, Dr. Mona has been involved in policy development and the practice of safe and sustainable habitat development.  She has leveraged research and knowledge-based initiatives to inform policy decisions mainly within South Asia. 

Prior to joining the CDRI, Dr. Anand served as the Country Programme Lead – in India for Asian Disaster Preparedness Center. As part of several working groups of the Government of India, she was extensively involved in strengthening institutional capacities for disaster preparedness, response, and recovery that have resulted in progressive policy initiatives.  

Dr Anand contributed to the development of the National School Safety Policy guidelines and Rural Habitat policies of the Government of India. She has also engaged in several post-disaster recovery initiatives in south Asia through her work with the UN, IIT Delhi, and civil society. During the course of her journey, she has set up knowledge enterprises and written books, articles, and papers.
