Richard is a river scientist interested in capturing the dynamics of global rivers. He led the "InfraRivChange" project during the CDRI Fellowship (2021-22 cohort). His recent postdoctoral research has focused on: (i) quantifying geomorphic hazards in the Philippines (University of Glasgow); and, (ii) monitoring global river flooding (University of Birmingham). He uses satellite imagery and big geospatial data sets to understand the risks that river-related hazards pose to people and infrastructure.
