NbIS Workshop for Landslide Risk and Slope Stabilization in Himachal Pradesh

Implementing Partner: Build Change

Project name:A Workshop on Nature-based Infrastructure Solutions (NbIS) for Landslide Risk Mitigation and Slope Stabilization along Road Networks

The NbIS workshop in June 2025, in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, India, convened 110+ participants to explore Nature-based Infrastructure Solutions for landslide mitigation and slope stabilization.

Organized by CDRI in collaboration with HP SDMA, the event focused on integrating NbIS into road networks.

Through technical sessions and field exercises, the workshop fostered practical learning, regional collaboration, and informed CDRI’s mountain resilience efforts, aiming to strengthen infrastructure sustainability across vulnerable terrains.

Impact

1

The workshop enhanced cross-sectoral understanding among government departments, CSOs, and regional partners, encouraging integration of Nature-based Infrastructure Solutions (NbIS) into mainstream road design and disaster risk management strategies.

2

Hands-on learning through field exercises enabled participants to translate theoretical concepts into actionable solutions, reinforcing the practical viability of NbIS for slope stabilization, erosion control, and disaster resilient infrastructure in hilly terrains.

3

Regional collaboration with stakeholders from Nepal, Bhutan, and agencies such as ICIMOD, CEEW, AFD, and CRRI fostered knowledge exchange and alignment on sustainable approaches for mountainous infrastructure resilience in South Asia.
