Impact

1

Sikkim’s health system has integrated workshops, fire safety audits, and mock drills to enhance hospitals’ emergency preparedness. A dedicated fire officer and a disaster management committee ensures effective risk management, strengthening healthcare infrastructure to protect patients, staff, and critical medical services.

2

CDRI’s technical guidance to Sikkim’s health sector after the 2023 floods shaped disaster recovery plans. Key recommendations were adopted, enhancing preparedness for future climate and disaster risks while strengthening hospital systems to ensure resilience and effective emergency response.

3

Lessons from Sikkim are shaping CDRI’s global program on resilient health infrastructure. New training programmes and a risk assessment framework are being developed to help nations strengthen their health systems, enhancing preparedness for climate and disaster risks.
