Project name: Latin America Regional Workshop on Building Resilience of Transportation Infrastructure
The Latin America Regional Workshop, held in Brasília (May 2025), focused on enhancing transport infrastructure resilience to climate and disaster risks.
Organized by CDRI, National Land Transport Agency (ANTT), and the Ministry of Transport, Government of Brazil, it featured technical sessions, policy dialogues, and the GIRI model. Key themes included financing, insurance, governance, and adaptation strategies for roads, ports, and airports.
The event fostered regional collaboration and produced actionable recommendations for resilient infrastructure planning.
Impact
1
The workshop fostered regional collaboration among over 100 participants from Latin American countries, enabling peer-to-peer knowledge exchange and strengthening institutional capacities for climate-resilient transport infrastructure planning and disaster risk management.
2
Participants developed actionable roadmaps for downscaling the GIRI to subnational levels, enhancing localized risk assessments and resilience strategies for roads, railways, ports, and airports in Brazil, Colombia, and Ecuador.
3
Technical sessions and panel discussions led to key recommendations on financing, governance, and insurance, promoting integrated approaches and innovative tools to embed resilience into infrastructure design, operations, and policy frameworks across Latin America.
