Digital Twin for Multi-Hazard Coastal Infrastructure Resilience in India and Australia

Implementing Partner: Build Change

Project name: Digital Twin-Integrated Multi-Hazard Coastal Resilience of Underground Infrastructures

This project enhances the resilience of coastal underground infrastructure, including tunnels and pipelines, in western India’s earthquake and flood-prone zones by deploying digital twin technology.

It integrates LiDAR scans, geospatial data, and AI-powered predictive modelling for real-time monitoring and maintenance.

Through a Resilience Dashboard, the project supports SDG-aligned planning and delivers scalable solutions that foster disaster preparedness, global knowledge exchange, and collaborative development of risk-informed systems for vulnerable coastal regions.

Impact and Key Findings

1

Facilitates real-time resilience evaluation of underground infrastructure, enabling predictive maintenance and minimizing service disruptions in coastal cities vulnerable to multiple hazards, such as earthquakes and floods, through data-driven, adaptive risk management strategies.

2

By combining local insights with advanced tools, engineers can design safer tunnels and pipelines in coastal zones prone to floods and quakes, enhancing structural resilience, improving system integrity, and protecting vulnerable communities from future disasters.

3

A resilience dashboard empowers decision makers with early risk insights, enabling strategic upgrades, effective emergency planning, and sustainable development aligned with SDGs 6, 9, and 11, fostering resilient infrastructure and smarter growth in vulnerable areas.
