Abhijit is Lead Specialist-Research at CDRI. With more than 10 years of experience in conducting empirical research within the urban development sector, his research spans diverse themes such as housing, sustainable transport, inclusiveness, informal work, gender, municipal finance, governance, and urban climate action. Prior to CDRI, he was Assistant Professor at TERI School of Advanced Studies New Delhi, where he taught and coordinated the MTech Urban Development Management programme along with other capacity building activities.
Abhijit has authored several research publications and has engaged in research and consultancy projects funded by prestigious institutions such as UN-Habitat, ICIMOD, and German Development Institute. He has also worked with NHK World Radio Japan’s Hindi language service, where he was a translator and a radio announcer.
Abhijit has a PhD in Urban Engineering from University of Tokyo, Japan and a master’s degree in Urban Planning with a specialization in Housing from CEPT University, Ahmedabad.
