As initiatives for strengthening policy frameworks and other aspects of infrastructure governance are undertaken, capacity development of individuals and entities engaged in infrastructure domain must be designed and implemented on priority. The capacity development must also aim at building knowledge and skills of individuals and institutions in non-technical aspects including disaster risk finance, policy frameworks for resilient infrastructure and other aspects pertaining to infrastructure risk governance. CDRI’s capacity development programme aims to enhance the ability of governments, private sector, and other organizations involved in infrastructure development value chain comprising planning, design, construction and operation and maintenance to ensure the resilience of new as well as existing infrastructure in CDRI Member Countries to ensure DRI.  

Capacity development initiatives by CDRI: 

• Conducted a Knowledge Gap Assessment for curriculum and network development for academic and research institutions across 19 countries. 

• Exploration exercise with University of St Andrews, Scotland on ways of engagement with CDRI on developing capacities of stakeholders and delivering high impact coastal Nature-based Solutions. 

Custom designed training outlines will be developed based on rapid Learning Need Assessment (LNA): 

• Power (Disaster Resilient power infrastructure in coastal areas),  

• Telecom (Operations and maintenance for resilient telecom infrastructure), and 

• Transport sector (Basics of disaster resilient transport infrastructure system). 

• Learning Need agenda to be developed for priority sector programmes 

CDRI also proposes to put in place a digital engagement and e-learning platform to deliver, organize, and manage CDRI training courses and other learning events efficiently.
