Jagan Shah is Director of India’s apex urban thinktank, the National Institute of Urban Affairs, which supports the Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs with policy formulation, implementation and monitoring of urban programs. NIUA executes a diverse portfolio of projects, conducts new research, produces proof-of-concept and promotes ecosystems for enabling urban innovation. Shah is recognized as a thought-leader for the Smart Cities Mission. He is a professional architect and historian & theorist trained at the School of Planning & Architecture, New Delhi, the University of Cincinnati and Columbia University. He has been a teacher and writer and has advised a number of corporate and development sector clients. He served as the founder CEO of Urban Space Consultants from 2007 to 2010, Director of the Sushant School of Architecture from 2011 to 2012, Independent Director of Delhi Integrated Multi-modal Transit System from 2015 to 2018, and has been a Trustee on the board of Clean Air Asia since 2016.
